Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Our intervention includes provision of water supply for the most vulnerable population affected by conflicts, rehabilitation and installation of hand pumps, solar systems, operation and maintenance. Sanitation includes Community Led Total Sanitation CLTS, CAT, waste management and disposals, environment, jerry can distribution. Hygiene includes hygiene education, public awareness raising, and cleaning campaigns and leaflets distribution at public institution. Since the establishment of organization UPO has rehabilitated 50 water points in Sudan, reached 280,000 community individuals with CLTS, CAT and hygienic approach in Darfur and Eastern Sudan that worth US$ 3.77 million. About 20,000 jerry cans been distributed to the most vulnerable IDPs to help them fetch clean water from the source and keep their wealth of health.
UPO health program focus on both soft and hard component of the health including provision of medical equipment, construction and rehabilitation of health clinic /centers in many rural areas and PHCs in Darfur and Eastern Sudan. UPO has undertaken number of nutrition projects that aims to reduce malnutrition rates and address the causes of ElNino impacts. Since the inception of the organization, UPO has spent USD 3.7 million in the Health and nutrition sectors Sudan in the last 4 years. Our service reached more than 160,000 infants, women and communities affected by conflict and acute malnutrition services
